Durham Region is constructing a new and expanded water treatment plant in the Town of Whitby on the shores of Lake Ontario. Ken Greenberg has joined a team led by AECOM in collaboration with RHDA Architects to develop design proposals in conjunction with staff from the Region and the Town which will integrate this significant new facility in a linear water’s edge park and trail network along the Whitby waterfront. This ambitious project calls for high performance water treatment and building technology while at the same time contributing to the renewal of the waterfront with an iconic structure and sensitive landscaping that enhances its local context and engages the public understanding the vital role this treatment plant plays in providing clean drinking water.
