Skyline Park

Denver

The Skyline Park Revitalization Council representing downtown property and business owners, residents, employees, youth and other stakeholders, was formed jointly by the City the City of Denver and the Downtown Denver partnership. In May 2000, the Council undertook the Skyline Park Revitalization Initiative with the goal of developing a new and dynamic vision for an historically important downtown in a critical location Park to give it new life as a great public space in an active and vibrant downtown. The vision was to include both a new program for the Park - to re-visit its fundamental purpose and role - and concept guidelines that would guide the Park's re-design. Ken Greenberg, then a partner in Urban Strategies, led this effort. The resulting Plan proposed both program ideas and a corresponding concept for its physical renewal including recommendations for enhancing the Park's relationship to surrounding buildings, streets and uses. A limited design competition was recommended and the redesign has been implemented.
