Glendale Secondary Plan
Niagara Region
Ken Greenberg has been engaged to work with the Planning Partnership by The Niagara Region to develop a vision for the Glendale Secondary Plan around a critical intersection of the Queen Elizabeth Highway and the Welland Canal. This large strategically positioned site close to Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls has the potential to be major mixed-use hub combining residential, recreation and tourism, retail, post-secondary education, a variety of employment uses in a newly configured urban framework stressing interconnections, mix and walkability and taking advantage of the unique attributes of the region, its agriculture and viticulture as well as its unique natural setting and cultural attributes. A major restricting of the interchange with the QEW provides the opportunity to leverage the infrastructure investment to enhance connectivity by all modes and provide a comprehensive public realm framework for redevelopment.
