Tulsa Riverfront Park
Tulsa, Oklahoma
Ken Greenberg was retained in 2011 by the George Kaiser Family Foundation as part of a team led by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates to prepare plans for a Tulsa Riverfront Park. The goal was to develop approximately 50 acres of land, comprised of two sites (Blair Property and Crow Creek Apartments), along the Arkansas River in Tulsa, Oklahoma to create a civic amenity that will enhance Tulsa’s cultural offerings to local, state and national visitors. This project began with a conceptual site Master Plan to determine development sites and street alignments to ensure the most efficient use of the properties with the maximum civic enhancement benefits. Greenberg Consultants role was to bring a focus on urban design including connectivity and circulation; parking, trail networks, transit; programming of public spaces; relationships to adjoining areas; integration with larger scale initiatives by others; and the redevelopment potential of a number of Crow Creek sites.
