Plateau de Saclay
Paris
In 1993 a group of Communes surrounding the 5000 hectare Plateau de Saclay on the outskirts of Paris, led by the Mayor of Gif-Sur-Yvette, launched a competition for the Moulon Sector to demonstrate how needed urban expansion, including new facilities for Campus of Paris X, could be accommodated without eroding this valuable agricultural preserve. Ken Greenberg, then a Partner in Berridge Lewinberg Greenberg, joined forces with Architect Antoine Grumbach from Paris to win this competition. Compact development, the interrelationship with surrounding natural and built resources, a fine-grained street network, the incorporation of site hydrology as a major feature and an open-ended framework for mixed-use were key themes of this Plan for the Moulon Sector.
