Mississauga Transit Hubs

Mississauga, Ontario

In 2009 Ken Greenberg was selected by the City of Mississauga and Metrolinx to work with a team led by the MMM Group to prepare Master Plans for the Cooksville and Port Credit Mobility Hubs in Mississauga, Ontario a large suburban municipality west of Toronto. Reflecting the importance of this initiative to the City of Mississauga and Metrolinx, these hubs are both identified in as critical components supporting the objectives set out in The Big Move, the Metrolinx 2008 Regional Transportation Plan for the Greater Toronto Area. These Mobility Hubs are essential building blocks in the process of urban intensification that will accommodate transit-oriented development featuring a mix of housing, employment, services and activities together with excellent access to key links in the transportation network. They will be planned and designed to encourage and support development of a transportation network that provide a full range of accessibility for all modes of transportation. The locations of the Cooksville and Port Credit Mobility Hubs at the intersection of GO Transit rail and Mississauga transit corridors present key development opportunities for the city. The Mobility Hubs will reinforce and encourage increased transit use and support the implementation of higher order transit in the Hurontario corridor which in turn will support the development of intensified transit-oriented land uses along this important corridor.
