Convention Center District Master Plan, San Juan Puerto Rico

San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Autoridad del Centro de Convenciones commissioned a multi-disciplinary team led by Colliers International to prepare an implementation plan and strategy for the Convention Center District in San Juan, P.R. This new mixed-use district will occupy 105 acres of the former Isla Grande Naval Base in Miramar, adding a range of indoor and outdoor activities and public areas at the water's edge in a strategic location between Viejo San Juan on the historic Isleta and the Condado. Ken Greenberg in association with CBT Architects and Andres Mignucci Architects has been asked to provide urban design leadership and to help manage an RFP process for the Colliers Team. The plan incorporates a strongly defined public realm including a new pattern of streets and blocks, parks, trails and connecting walkways to the San Antonio Canal, the Condado Laguna, and the adjoining Miramar neighborhood. Competitions have been held for the first three blocks and the first buildings have been completed.
