Black Creek Meadows Community
Toronto
Ken Greenberg has served as urban design lead and strategic advisor for the Leons family’s proposal in preparing plans for the redevelopment of their 40 acre site at the intersection of Highways 400 and 401. A new mixed-use community on this site will create a substantial of new housing, while also providing for thousands of new, permanent, jobs with benefits, within a true live-work-shop-play community. It will also provide badly needed community assets in this challenged area of Toronto, while using underutilized infrastructure, such as schools (Pelmo), transit (GO Weston Station) and the new Humber River Hospital. It has the potential to become a new high tech hub for highly desirable 21st century employment in a location where it is strategically needed and well located in relation to transportation infrastructure as well as the full gamut of benefits for a community with a high percentage of newly arrived immigrants to the city.
