FilmPort

Toronto

Toronto's new film/media district FilmPort is being created in the Port Lands. The Rose Corporation commissioned Ken Greenberg as part of a multidisciplinary team with Quadrangle Architects to prepare its Master Plan in 2005. The anchor to this exciting new community is a massive film studio complex featuring North America's largest sound stage. Toronto Film Studios moved into this new, state-of-the-art facility with world-class sound stages, production offices and amenities. Envisioning a convergence district for creative and knowledge-based industries, the film studio complex was intended to form the nucleus of an international centre for creativity and innovation in film, media, arts and related industries. Surrounding the Studio Lot, the heart of FilmPort, will be 2 million square feet of commercial office, industrial, residentail, retail and entertainment facilities in energetic mix of work and recreation environments with new parks, trails and naturalized green spaces and, further west, new residential neighbourhoods.
