The Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation (TWRC) retained a Landscape Design Team led by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates in 2005 to design and oversee the construction of the New Don River Park now named Corktown Common. Ken Greenberg acted as Urban Design Advisor to this team. The creation of this new 19.5 acre park led the redevelopment of the West Don Lands, an emerging new community on the Toronto Waterfront and an exemplar of contemporary design, sustainability in opening up the waterfront to broad year-round public use. It will be the centerpiece of the Athletes' Village for the 2015 Pan American Games which are being staged in Toronto.
